Learn from a gardenerd with more than 30 years experience growing food in Southern California. Customize the topics you want to learn with Christy ahead of time: seasonal crops, composting, pest control, or biointensive garden planning.
Class may include (if timing permits) helping to work in the garden, or a lesson including planting something to take home (supplies extra).

Christy Wilhelmi is the owner of Gardenerd, the ultimate resource for garden nerds. She is author of several books, including Grow Your Own Mini Fruit Garden, High Yield Small Space Organic Gardening, and the novels Garden Variety (March, 2022 William Morrow) and Bolting to Seed (June, 2026). She teaches gardening classes, does one-on-one consulting, coaching, and vegetable garden design. She grows a lot of her family's food at Gardenerd HQ and loves to grow heirloom veggies in small spaces. While Gardenerd HQ has a lot of space, Christy grows veggies using biointensive methods to get the most out of the sunny spots, and uses the front yard as a Mini Fruit Garden to keep the garden manageable and productive. She also helps run the local Time Bank, and participates in monthly produce exchanges.
